Adult Supports

The Erie County Board of Develepmental Disabilities provides the following supports to adults with disabilities:

Consultant Services: The Erie County Board of DD provides very specialized consultative services on a limited basis. Behavior support specialists and psychological services are coordinated through the Service & Support Administration.
Individual Supports: Individual supports focus on self direction, skill development, and independence. Support areas may include in-home direct care supports; community access; transportation; day activity; employment; limited therapy services; counseling and behavioral supports; adaptive equipment; and home modifications.
Service and Support Administration: Service and Support Administration is similar to case management. The Erie County Board of DD employs Service & Support Administrators (SSAs), to help children, their families and advocates, by developing a plan of supports addressing needs and goals.
Medicaid and Waivers: Medicaid Waiver services provide additional services and supports to eligible individuals beyond what is offered through State Plan services. As there are a limited number of slots available for each waiver, the State of Ohio and county boards of DD have established waiting lists for the individual options (IO) and level 1 waivers.
